The 2023 Toyota Highlander will shine bright with a brand-new 2.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 265 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque. This engine will replace the current 3.5 L V-6 which offers 263 pound-feet of torque. The 17% increase in available torque means quicker accelerations and more dynamic passing and overall performance, especially when the Highlander is packed with baggage or passengers.
Despite the improvement in torque, the 2023 Toyota Highlander will have the same average 9.8 L per 100 km fuel consumption rating of the current V-6 but with significant reductions in pollution and emissions. Towing capacity remains the same at 5,000 pounds in the new Highlander includes a Trailer Sway Control system to ensure optimal stability when towing.
The other major change made to the 2023 Toyota Highlander includes a new infotainment system that features advanced connectivity technology as well as advanced voice commands and Over-the-air updates. The new system will be housed in a new 12.3-inch centre display which is paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in the Limited and Platinum models. An 8-inch centre touchscreen is available on other versions.
Other improvements made to the 2023 Toyota Highlander include power folding mirrors on Limited and Platinum grades as well as hands-free power liftgate available on more versions. The 2023 Toyota Highlander offers 453 L of total cargo space with all rows in place and 1,370 L with the rear row folded down.
