The 2025 Toyota Highlander offers Canadian buyers unprecedented choice with nine distinct models...
We often hear about the popularity of the Toyota RAV4, especially since it became the best-selling non-truck vehicle in Canada last year. That said, the numbers are still impressive and the RAV4 is still the dominant force in Canada when it comes to sales.
Again, in April, it set a personal high with 7,920 units sold. Since the start of the year, 23,585 models have been acquired by Canadian consumers.
Other than the pickup trucks from the Big Three American manufacturers, no other vehicle for sale in Canada sold more than the RAV4. If we extrapolate using a rule of three, Toyota could sell 70,755 RAV4s this year in the country, which would be exceptional. In 2020, the company's Canadian division sold 67,977 versions, more than in 2019 with 65,248. Yes, sales even increased in the midst of the pandemic.
And you can't predict where it will end; huge numbers of people continue to choose the RAV4.
Corolla and Camry
If the RAV4 is dominant, as are all SUVs across the industry, the fate of cars is more difficult. In fact, sales have declined over the years for all models. However, when you compare them, you realize that Toyota still does well with this type of vehicle.
First, the Corolla is set to have an extraordinary year, having seen 10,788 units purchased since January 1 of this year.
Then, we must underline the good performance of the Camry which, in sixth position overall for cars in Canada, is leading the midsize segment. So far this year, 3,418 units have been sold: that's 1,308 more than its closest rival, the Honda Accord.
